Transient ventricular conduction disturbances produced by intra-atrial injection of single doses of KCl.

چکیده
In dogs under pentobarbital anesthesia, the administration of KCI in single intra-atrial doses of 1 mg/kg produced varying effects on intraventricular conduction depending upon the initial potassium concentration of systemic blood. At normal and moderately increased systemic K concentrations, single injections of KCI improved intraventricular conduction, but at higher systemic K concentrations a negative dromotropic effect appeared. Following injection into the right atrium, the effect appeared immediately in the right ventricle, followed after some delay by an appreciably lesser effect in the left ventricle. Injection of potassium into the left atrium altered conduction in the left ventricle without affecting the right ventricle. The results indicate that transient alterations of [K] in the blood of the ventricular cavity can act directly on the specialized conduction network to alter the rate of intraventricular conduction. Modulation of extracellular atrioventricular node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm by morphine in experimental atrial fibrillation in isolated rabbit heart
Introduction: Endorphins are produced by cardiomyocytes, and exert different effects on the heart. The aim of the present study is to assess morphine effects on extracellular atrioventricular (AV) node field potential pattern and ventricular rhythm of isolated rabbit heart during experimental atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods: Effects of different concentrations of morphine (10, 20, 50 and 1...
متن کاملThe Effect of Bronchial Asthma on Interatrial Electromechanical Delay Coupling Obtained Using Tissue Doppler Imaging
Background: Asthma is a predisposing factor for the development of atrial fibrillation. Asthma disturbs the electrophysiology in the right and left atrium. The aim of this study was to evaluate atrial electromechanical delay by coupling obtained from tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) in children. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 50 patients with Bronchial Asthma, compared with 50 hea...
متن کاملNew manifestations of electrophysiological remodeling of heart during experimental model of atrial fibrillation in cirrhotic rat isolated heart
Introduction: The present study is aimed to evaluate electrophysiological remodeling of atrioventricular (AV) node and ventricular conduction during experimental atrial fibrillation (AF) model in isolated heart of cirrhotic rats. Methods: Cirrhosis-induced electrophysiological remodeling was evaluated in 24 isolated retrogradely perfused rat hearts in 2 groups (control and cirrhotic). Cirrho...
متن کاملConduction disturbances after surgical correction of ventricular septal defect by the atrial approach.
Conduction disturbances have been documented after correction of ventricular septal defects by the ventricular route. Recently, repair of the ventricular septal defect has been through the right atrium to overcome damage to the conduction system and a right ventriculotomy. Thirty-nine children with ventricular septal defects under the age of 5 years were operated upon by the atrial route (group...
متن کاملAtrioventricular conduction disturbances during hypoxia. Possible role of adenosine in rabbit and guinea pig heart.
Adenosine and related compounds can produce atrioventricular (A-V) conduction block. Similar conduction disturbances are observed in myocardial hypoxia. To investigate the possibility that adenosine might be causally involved in hypoxic conduction disturbances, we measured A-V conduction times, subdivided into atrial-to-His bundle (A-H) and His bundle-to-ventricular (H-V) intervals, with extrac...
